This article shares the findings from pioneering user-centred research into household laundering behaviours conducted in Loughborough, UK; Bangalore, India and Curitiba, Brazil using in-context interviews, observation and household tours. It offers seven guidelines for creating products that encourage sustainable behaviours throughout the use phase.
In addition to this, it examines the impact of a local climate change shock on WASH access in schools in the Amazon. It then outlines an approach to address this shock, using a WASH Bottleneck Analysis Tool (WASH BAT) in combination with community engagement to identify a series of interventions at a regional and local level.
